It's TIME to TALK

Studies show that two out of three women in Nicaragua report physical abuse by their husband or partner, and one of three children have been sexually or physically abused. It's important to recognize that boys and young men also suffer from violence.

The situation is not much different in Sri Lanka as well. It's important to "talk" about these things with an open mind rather than avoiding. Each one of us is responsible for any sort of child abuse if we do not talk about them. We should "talk" to our children about this, we should talk to each other and create a voice about it. No point of boasting about our proud nations and cultures and avoid talking about all the sensitive (or sexual) issues with our children because how can we ask them to avoid or be cautious about something which they have never heard of?

This thought came after watching Watch Carlo's Story video published by Men CareMen Care – A Global Fatherhood Campaign – is coordinated by Promundo, Sonke and the MenEngage Alliance, as an effort to promote men’s involvement as fathers and as caregivers. It seeks to provide support materials, messages, policy recommendations and research to encourage local MenEngage partners, NGOs, women’s rights organizations, governments and UN partners to implement campaign activities in their settings.
