FUTA
Though I changed my Facebook profile picture to support
FUTA, I believe that changing pictures won't change the system but changing
minds would do.
Its funny how some people support this cause
while having other political motives. I don’t think that they really want to
support the education system of this country other than achieving their
benefits. FUTA stands for a worthy cause and I hope their actions will open
eyes of people who truly want to support for a better education system of this
country.
This is not a fight which can be won over night.
Even if it could win, will it make a huge difference in a short time? I don't
think so. FUTA demands the government to clearly state the policy on statefunded education. This is the key for a better future if it works properly. We
need to have a proper mechanism to influence the younger generation of this
country to change in a positive way. Change in a way that they will not do the
same mistakes which we have
done.
Can the government education system help to do that? Yes.
Will any government try to do this? I don’t think so.

Compromising to be happy?
As a result they end up being miserable and having neither happiness or money in their lives. Ideally what should happen is that we either should find happiness in what brings us money or earn money by doing what makes us happy. In order to do that, one might has to compromise on the level of expectation. Now the real question is, are we really ready to compromise on our expectations? If yes, you are a winner. If not the second question is how miserable do you wanna be in life?
When I posted this on my FB, Buddhi ayya commented on that.
"Compromise on the level of expectations.... like how happy you want to be or how much money you want to have? Then I think I would rather try to be very happy with having enough money :) So that means I have to find other means (other than money) to bring me more happiness, don't I?"
My reply to that was,
"That's a choice you made.
For some of us, making that choice is a long hard process. There we might have
to reword our definitions about happiness and financial success and work
towards them. So its kind of compromising on our initial expectations and
settling to a common ground."
He had more to say..
"I was having
almost the same discussion with some other friends... and its very interesting.
Like Bhanuka said it really depends on the person. Some of us care more about
being spiritual for example... so as long as you feel good about yourself and
happy, it is a good way to go. And when you do that, I think mostly you will
not feel like making a compromise as all. That's how I feel."
Like he correctly said, when you are happy with your way, you won't feel that you are making any compromise. That is simply because the feeling of compromising indirectly tells you that you are not happy at that moment about that particular decision. When you are happy about your way there are no compromises about happiness at all. In other words, one might feel like compromising on a particular decision at a given time but with time, he will no longer see it as a compromise after he found his happiness along that decision he made.
It's TIME to TALK
Studies show that two out of three women in Nicaragua report physical abuse by their husband or partner, and one of three children have been sexually or physically abused. It's important to recognize that boys and young men also suffer from violence.
The situation is not much different in Sri Lanka as well. It's important to "talk" about these things with an open mind rather than avoiding. Each one of us is responsible for any sort of child abuse if we do not talk about them. We should "talk" to our children about this, we should talk to each other and create a voice about it. No point of boasting about our proud nations and cultures and avoid talking about all the sensitive (or sexual) issues with our children because how can we ask them to avoid or be cautious about something which they have never heard of?
This thought came after watching Watch Carlo's Story video published by Men Care. Men Care – A Global Fatherhood Campaign – is coordinated by Promundo, Sonke and the MenEngage Alliance, as an effort to promote men’s involvement as fathers and as caregivers. It seeks to provide support materials, messages, policy recommendations and research to encourage local MenEngage partners, NGOs, women’s rights organizations, governments and UN partners to implement campaign activities in their settings.

Back to writing :)
I started going to a gym, following a very strict diet plan and lost many inches from my waist. After 6 months I have become 74.5Kg from 81.5Kg. Waist has reduced from 37" to 32" and I feel so good to wear Medium size again. I'm not that wow about it coz i was like this two years back. Still need to work out hard and be back in proper shape. :)
Eid holidays were spent in Dubai as I wasp planing for few months. That was an awesome experience to me. Visiting many places and seeing many things in Dubai, made me so happy.
Jeewani moved to Qatar, Met many new friends, Watched 3D movies, Bought an iPhone, Few new stuff to wear, Got addicted to Family guy and Master Chef Australia, Tried different types of food, Sheesha, Being mad about the driving test, Issues and happy moments at work, Experiencing the attitudes and kindness of people. That's the summary of last 6 months.
Hope to continue writing...Inshaalla!

Our lives have turned up side down
Lives of many expatriates have turned upside down due to the unset. The death of a Pakistani, and the injured Bangladeshi guys have frightened the whole expat community. The story behind the attacks against Pakistanis and Bangladeshis is because the Sunni Muslims from those countries have obtained Bahrain nationality for past years. I think the government has taken this step to increase the Sunni community in the country which ultimately made the Shia majority to stand against this procedure.
We have been asked not to go to office or anywhere out of the house these days. The situation is not that bad but still it is better to avoid any unnecessary incidents. GCC Army has arrived the country to help the government to calm down the situation which has made huge arguments in the whole world again. However, we are stuck at home for the send day as well.
We bought some food items, telephone cards, water and few other things to use in case if an emergency occurs. So far the situation is all right but the roads are still empty. Shops and restaurants close earlier than the regular time and people buy things in bulk and store at house. The lives has somehow or the other turned upside down for us.
Here are few text messages I got yesterday. Don’t know how far they are accurate.
“From ministry of interior source: Troops from the GCC’s Peninsula shield military force have arrived in Bahrain to help maintain order and security in the Kingdom. Public are advised to refrain from being out and to always bring CPR for identity”
“Protestors are given a warning & a deadline to evacuate pearl roundabout. Emergency is declared. Army will spread out in every city. Martial law is introduced.”
“Stay at home, keep important food, water, bread, candles, torch, charge the mobiles and listen to the radio”
